SUMMARY:OECD Webinar on “How to access exposure to nanomaterials? The evaluation result of existing tools/models”
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join the OECD Webinar on “How to access exposure to nanomaterials? The evaluation result of existing tools/models” on Thursday 2 December 2021 at 14:00 CET / 08:00 EST (duration: 2 hours). The webinar will be available in English and Spanish.   \nWith the dramatic increase of nano-enabled products entering the market every year\, human and environmental exposures are inevitable\, which raises concerns in terms of the health and safety of such emerging nanomaterials. Scientific knowledge to assess the exposure to nanomaterials continues to improve. As an example\, new exposure tools and models for nanomaterials are being developed. \nTo further promote the development in this area\, the OECD compiled an inventory of available models and tools for assessing occupational\, consumer and environmental exposure to Nanomaterials. 54 tools and models were initially compiled and following in-depth analyses\, 10 occupational\, 7 consumer and 6 environmental tools/models were recommended or evaluated as suitable for assessing exposure to nanomaterials. The detailed information on the analyses and evaluations are provided in the reports accessible from the Series on Testing and Assessment website (No. 345\, 346\, 347 and 348). \nThe OECD will be hosting a webinar on 2 December at 14:00 CET. Tune in to hear the researchers present the key findings of the reports. \nMake your REGISTRATION!

SUMMARY:NanoHarmony Workshop 'Learning lessons from the past – and knowing what your customer needs'
DESCRIPTION:This NanoHarmony workshop will follow the journey of a Guidance Document (GD) or Test Guideline (TG) through the OECD process from the standard project submission form (SPSF)\, through to its adoption and use. At each stage of the process the ‘audience’ changes and therefore so does the information requirements needed to be able to address their ‘needs’. \nThe aim of the workshop is to highlight the changes in emphasis and information required at each of the TG/GD process steps and to allow delegates to share their experiences at different stages of the TG/GD process. The outcome of the workshop will be a greater shared understanding of how future OECD TG/GD can more efficiently navigate the acceptance process and to help build guidance for future proposers based on best practice. \nThe workshop is aimed at all stakeholders interested in the TG/GD process including: \n\nScientists- who may be interested in having their innovation taken forward into a test guideline\nOECD Expert- who can provide their experiences of managing the OECD TG/GD process\nRegulators- who administer the key regulatory frameworks that industry needs to comply with\nPolicymakers- who set the overall chemicals legislative framework either nationally or globally through the EU or OECD\nIndustry- who are looking for test guidelines to allow them to meet their regulatory obligations\n\nThe interaction between different stakeholders will allow NanoHarmony to learn from previous experiences with the TG/GD process and to establish best practice from learned experiences and to summarise this into good practice guidelines. \nAgenda \n\nThe trials and tribulations of getting from Science to final accepted TG/GD\, Frank von der Kammer (UNIVIE)\nCheck list for a successful OECD (WPMN/WNT) process\, Mar Gonzalez (OECD)\nAccompany an OECD TG development – commenting as a regulatory expert\, Erik Bleeker (RIVM)\nSitting on the fence – experiences in leading an OECD TG development\, Kathrin Schwirn and Doris Voelker (UBA)\n\n  \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:GRACIOUS approach to Quality Assessment of Nanosafety Data Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Assessing Quality and Completeness of Nanosafety Data for Risk Assessment Purposes Workshop\nUsing high quality data is essential for performing robust risk assessment of chemical substances\, including engineered nanomaterials (NMs). It is important for risk assessors to be aware of the quality of the datasets that they use\, but such information is currently not available for most of the available nanosafety datasets. \nTo address this issue\, the EU H2020 project GRACIOUS proposed a methodology to facilitate the evaluation of quality and completeness for sets of NM physicochemical and(eco)toxicological data based on established criteria: i.e.\, completeness\, reliability\, relevance and adequacy. This approach is unique in the sense that it can automatically assess data quality and completeness starting from the available (meta)data\, thus minimising the reliance on expert judgment. The goal is to further advance the methodology in the H2020 Gov4Nano project and implement it as functionality of the eNanoMapper database to enable real-time analysis of each dataset that is included in it. \nTo achieve this\, we need help from experts! \nTherefore\, we are organising this virtual workshop to present our approach and collect your opinion on key aspects of the developed quality assessment methodology. \nIn this workshop you will learn and discuss: \n\nThe background and purpose of the GRACIOUS approach for data quality assessment\nThe detailed methodology for assessing data quality and completeness of physicochemical and hazard datasets\nHow the approach can help to address stakeholder needs\nHow we can improve certain aspects of the methodology and its implementation in the eNanoMapper database\n\nWho should attend? \nData experts and risk assessors from industry\, regulation\, and academia. \nDraft Agenda: \nModerator: Danail Hristozov\, EMERGE \n10.00 – 10.20 Quality of data on nanomaterials: why we need progress in its assessment (Presentation; Hubert Rauscher\, EC JRC) \n10.20 – 11.20 Methodology for assessing quality and completeness of physicochemical and hazard data for risk assessment purposes (Presentation\, Q&A session\, and open discussion; Gianpietro Basei\, GreenDecision Srl and Danail Hristozov\, EMERGE) \n11.20 – 12.00 Implementing the methodology in the eNanoMapper database (Demonstration\, Q&A session\, and open discussion; Nina Jeliazkova\, Idea Consult) \nRegistration
